Combine programs

Most clients claim SR&ED + 1-2 other programs in the same fiscal year for maximum recovery.

We coordinate the math

Some programs interact (e.g. IDMTC ↔ SR&ED). We optimize allocation to maximize total refund.

One point of contact

You work with one Axscope team across every program — no juggling different consultants.

Stacking Questions

How programs stack.

The most common questions clients ask about combining multiple programs.

Can I claim multiple programs in the same year?
Yes — and you should. Most of our clients stack 2-3 programs. The most common combinations: SR&ED + IDMTC (game studios & digital media); SR&ED + CanExport (tech companies going global); EBC + SR&ED (BC startups raising capital while doing R&D).
What's the difference between CanExport and SR&ED?
Completely different programs. SR&EDrewards technical R&D work performed in Canada. CanExportrewards marketing spend to enter new international markets. You can claim both simultaneously if you're a tech company expanding abroad.
How does Axscope decide which programs to recommend?
On the discovery call, we map your business across all 5+ programs and identify which actually apply. Some companies qualify for one. Others qualify for four. We never recommend a program where the time investment exceeds the expected return.
What's the application timeline for these programs?
CanExport: 3-5 weeks prep, 60 business days for government decision. RTRI: highly variable depending on specific application (drawback vs. remission). IDMTC: filed with corporate tax return; refund usually arrives 4-8 weeks after CRA assessment.
Do these programs stack with SR&ED?
Yes, and they're designed to. IDMTC and SR&ED have specific rules about not double-counting the same dollar of salary (we handle the optimization). CanExport and RTRI don't overlap with SR&ED at all — different expense categories entirely.
